Marathon - Take 2

Congrats to Julie who successfully finished her first of many (he he) marathons. As a husband I'm so excited for her and what she has accomplished over the last year. I remember her early starts in Utah during vacation to the long distance runs she did up to a couple weeks before the marathon. Here are some fun facts from her race....

First post - 10K: 1:01:43
Second post - Halfway: 2:13:26
Third post - 20Miles: 3:34:03
Fourth post - 25Miles: 4:38:08
Finish - 4:51:45

Before the race. 4:45AM,ugh..What was Julie thinking. We stayed at a hotel about 30 minutes away because everything else was booked months in advance.

So happy to be here and ready for the big day ahead.

And then there was this....

Still all smiles. She made it look sooo easy. I think she cheated and hitched a ride along the way somewhere. No matter what though Julie is officially part of the 26.2 Club

In total 9888 people registered for the marathon. 7103 actually had the guts to show up and run it though. In the end only 6759 finished the race. Julie place 4776th overall and 831st out of 1334 people for her division. Gender wise she finished 1520 out of 2533. And for you running nuts her pace was 11:18 miles.

At the finish line Birch, Linda, Jeff, Vincent, Baylie, Bryndie, Payton and I all greeted Julie with cheers. After the race Julie took a quick dip in Lake Superior on the advice of experienced runners.
