1 down 2 to go.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS EXTREME DETAIL. So we just finished the first surgery (Rectal Exam) and the results are showing what we were expecting. In graphic detail, they go into Paytons rear end and cut out a small section of his large intestine. That is then sent to a lab where two tests are done. The first one is called a freeze test and this is where they look for the missing ganglion cells. After performing the first test the sample came back as missing the cells. An additional section of intestine is tested further and more detailed and accurate tests are done. If these also come back and says he is missing the cells ( the doctor expects this) then Payton will need to move on to his second more intensive surgery on Friday. We already have surgery scheduled for Friday at 11:30 and we'llconfirm it tomorrow after we get the final results.
The one thing that may hold the whole process up is Payton is currently fighting a cold. Dr. Keplinger (Family Doctor) and Dr. Anderson (Surgon) do not want to put Payton under for a long period (3 hours) if his respiratory system is not 100%. If this is the case we'll hold off for a week because Dr. Anderson is out next week.

Overall though Payton is doing awesome and is a trooper. He is always so happy and does everything he can to put a smile on. The following are a couple of pictures of before and after the surgery.

I'm glad everything went well today. Payton is such a trooper. Hopefully he'll get over this cold and go in for surgery to get everything done with. Good luck!
