Our lives are going crazy

This past week has been a crazy one and from the sound of things it's just going to keep going.

As some may know I've tried to be actively involved with the current political spectrum. On Saturday night I attended a Mitt Romney rally with Birch. I even got the chance to take a couple of pictures with him (They'll be posted soon).

Sunday we hosted our annual Super Bowl party. We ended up having 12 Adults and 11 Children so the house was rocking the whole night. Although I wanted to see the Pats win I was happy for the Giants after I witnessed Billick disrespect the game the way he did at the end.

On Tuesday I helped work the local caucus. This lead to me being elected as the Precinct VP and a delegate for the Republican party. The best part of the night though was as I counted the votes while they came in and started to realize Mitt was winning our precinct by a land slide (91/186). I was so proud that night which eventually ran late into the night as I watched Mitt later take the state (At least some of us can get it right). I do admit I was a little torn when I found out Mitt decided to pull out. I guess this is a good time to start the Mitt 2012 rally thought.

Last but not least we are back at Children’s Hospital again. On Weds Payton started to get a fever, which we never though anything of because we was cutting teeth. That night we had a hard time getting him to sleep. In the morning we decided to take him to Dr. Keppliger (which by the way is the single greatest Pediatrician in the world). When we arrived his temp had spiked up to 104.1 and was going up. The Doctor ordered a blood sample and some x-rays. The blood test showed is White Cell count at almost 34K which was well above the normal 12K. At further discussion we were sent to the ER at Children’s Hospital.

Urine tests at the hospital came up negative and they felt they needed to research a little further. By this point he temp had now peak at 105.1 and White Cells were at 45K, you could tell the doctors were a little worried. The surgeons came in and said they think that Payton may have picked up an intestinal infection during the surgery and a CT scan was going to be needed. Payton was sent to get a CT Scan, which reviled a Kidney Infection. The only problem...the urine test was negative?? So at this point they had at least a clue of what was going on. They ended up admitting us back up to the wonderful 7th floor yet again. Good thing is that by now we know most the nurses. Everyone was excited to see Payton again considering the circumstances. The next day the doctor came back and said they think the reason the test were negative is because the bacteria was in the Kidney and not the bladder which may explain way they were getting the false negative.

We were told that we were likely be here until Sunday at the earliest. Tonight though the doctor came back in and said they think he may also have an abscess on the Kidney caused by the bacteria sitting there for the past couple of weeks. We won't know more until Sunday or Monday when they see if they get the infection under control. At that point they'll do another CT scan and possibly another small surgery to drain the abscess. So now we are looking more toward middle of the week to get out of here. The only good thing this time around is we have our own room because of the infection. This makes life a little easier when you're cooped up in here all day.

So that is our life this past week. Julie said she'll attempt to get pictures up soon.

Good Luck. Hopefully they will be able to get things taken care of. I know what it is like being stuck in the hospital and especially now with all the respiratory viruses going around. Stay germ free and keep us updated.
