Payton Update

Payton is still doing well. We had a rough first night and day, he was pretty sore. Every time he woke up he would cry, a sad little cry. He was up about every 20-30 min. the first night, the next day it was about every hour. We could definitely tell when the morphine would wear off. He was taking it every 2 hours but now is down to 3 hours so that is a good sign. They took the NG tube and the catheter out this morning, he is much happier without them. He did have a spike in his temp which can mean some kind of infection, but it went back down so for now we are ok, just watching it. We are still waiting for a smile, we haven't seen one since Tues morning. He just lays there and stares at you. Can't imagine what he is thinking! He did start to hold his toys and shake them around this afternoon so that was nice to see. Tonight he will start taking some clear liquids so hopefully that will go ok. He will start with a small amount and build up from there and then eventually he will try formula. We haven't heard how long we will be here, we just take one day at a time.
